Prerequisites for Becoming an INASL Life Member

National

A person can become a life member of the Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) provided they are a citizen of India, ordinarily resident in India, and fulfill at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Possesses a degree of DM (Gastroenterology or Hepatology), M.Ch (Surgical Gastroenterology), or DNB (Gastroenterology).
  2. Is currently pursuing a degree of DM (Gastroenterology or Hepatology), M.Ch (Surgical Gastroenterology), or DNB (Gastroenterology).
  3. Possesses a postgraduate degree or diploma recognized by the Medical Council of India in any branch of medical science, is enrolled on a provincial or State Medical Register of practitioners of Modern Scientific Medicine, and has demonstrated interest in liver diseases by at least one full original published paper in an indexed journal.
    (In exceptional cases, persons without a postgraduate degree may be admitted if approved by the Governing Council.)
  4. Possesses a PhD degree with demonstrated interest in liver disease, evidenced by at least one published paper related to liver diseases in an indexed journal.
  5. Is currently pursuing a PhD in liver disease with at least one published paper related to liver diseases in an indexed journal.
  6. Is engaged in teaching or research in biological sciences with a sustained interest in liver diseases (Hepatology).

    A person engaged in teaching means holding a confirmed teaching appointment in a recognized medical college or university department.

International

A person can become an international member of INASL if he/she fulfills at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Trained medical doctor with special training in Hepatology or Gastroenterology.
  2. Possesses or is pursuing a PhD in any area of Hepatology.
  3. Is engaged in teaching or research in biological sciences with a sustained interest in liver diseases (Hepatology).

    A person engaged in teaching means holding a confirmed teaching appointment in a recognized medical college or university department.

INASL Membership Fee Structure

1. National

  • First-time application fee: INR 10,000/-
  • Renewal fee: INR 5,000/- (to be paid every 5 years)
  • Discounts:
    • Student Discount: 30% discount on membership fee for students joining INASL during their DM, DNB, PhD course, or Gastroenterology/Hepatology Fellowship
      (must be recommended by Head of the Department or Head of the Unit).
    • Senior Members: Members above 65 years are exempted from paying the renewal fee.

2. International (Asia)

  • Fee: USD 15/-
  • Renewal: Required every year

3. International (Other than Asia)

  • Fee: USD 25/-
  • Renewal: Required every year
