Prerequisite

Prerequisites for becoming INASL Life Member

National

A person can become a life member of Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) provided he is a citizen of India, ordinarily resident in India and fulfils at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Possesses a degree of DM (Gastroenterology or Hepatology), M.Ch (Surgical Gastroenterology), DNB (Gastroenterology).
  2. Pursuing a degree of DM (Gastroenterology or Hepatology), M.Ch (Surgical Gastroenterology), DNB (Gastroenterology).
  3. Possesses a postgraduate degree or diploma recognized by the Medical Council of India in any branch of medical science, is enrolled on a provincial or a State Medical Register of practitioners of Modern Scientific Medicine AND has taken interest in liver diseases as evidenced by at least one published full original paper related to liver diseases in an indexed journal. In exceptional cases, persons without a postgraduate degree can be admitted if approved by the Governing Council.
  4. Possesses PhD degree with interest in liver disease as evidenced by at least one published paper related to liver diseases in an indexed journal.
  5. Pursuing PhD degree in liver disease with interest in liver disease as evidenced by at least one published paper related to liver diseases in an indexed journal.
  6. Engaged in teaching or research in biological science with a sustained interest in liver diseases (Hepatology). A person who is engaged in teaching shall mean a person who is holding a confirmed teaching appointment in a recognized medical college or university department.

International

A person can become an international member of Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL) if he/she fulfils at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Trained medical doctor with special training in Hepatology or Gastroenterology.
  2. Possesses PhD degree or pursuing PhD degree in any area of Hepatology.
  3. Engaged in teaching or research in biological science with a sustained interest in liver diseases (Hepatology). A person who is engaged in teaching shall mean a person who is holding a confirmed teaching appointment in a recognized medical college or university department.

Associate Member

Those who do not qualify to be an National and International membership criteria, can apply for associate membership if they qualify the following criteria

  1. Graduate or Post graduate in Life Sciences and at least one published paper relevant to liver diseases in the indexed journal
  2. Working in the field of liver diseases as evidenced by at least one published paper relevant to liver diseases in the indexed journal
  3. Interest in the field of liver diseases as evidenced by at least one published paper relevant to liver diseases in the indexed journal
